WE PROVIDE SEVERAL IMAGING SERVICES, INCLUDING:
ULTRASOUND
Ultrasound is a common diagnostic procedure that uses sound waves like sonar to create a moving picture of your body. Because sound waves are used instead of radiation, you will feel little or no discomfort.
No doubt you associate ultrasound with pregnancies. Actually, it does play a key role in assessing pregnancy. It enables us to determine size, as well as helps us evaluate the growth rate, position, movement, breathing, and the heartbeat of the fetus. However, it is also helpful in the detection, diagnosis, and the monitoring of a number of potential problems, including:
- Abdominal Disorders, Gallstones
- Vasculature
- Vascular
- Eye Disorders
- Cancer
- Pelvic Disorders
- Obstetrics
Ultrasound is ideal in studying blood vessels. Using doppler techniques, we are able to visualize the small particles, such as red blood cells and protein particles, in the blood. The one limitation of ultrasound is that it is not able to see through air or bone. That is why it is not used to evaluate the brain, spine or chest.
MRI: MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING
MRI uses the principles of nuclear magnetic resonance to allow us to look inside the body without the use of X-Rays. MRI uses the body's own energy, highly-sophisticated computers, and a magnetic field many times greater than the earth's magnetic pull to see through the bone to create extremely precise pictures of soft tissue.
Specific study enhancements include:
- The ability to help detect and characterize lesions in the liver and brain (spectroscopy) for which the etiology is unclear to determine whether a suspicious area is malignant or benign.
- In musculoskeletal studies, the improved spatial resolution allows us to see more clearly abnormalities and diseases of cartilage, ligaments and tendons. Higher contrast may permit reduction of gadolinium doses and, in some cases, earlier detection of disease.
- Most sensitive test for Multiple Sclerosis.
- Short Bore magnet for improved patient comfort during exam.
The latest in Open MRI Technology
- Better images. High-field strength image quality (1.5 Telsa magnet vs. previous .3T Open)
- Faster. Imaging time 2-3 times faster than previous low-strength Open MR
- Ideal for claustrophobic patients
- Accommodates large patients (up to 550 lbs.)
- 70-cm internal bore, short 125-cm length
- Head-out exams
- Patient-friendly design for patient convenience
- 60% of exams can be done with the patient’s head outside of the system
X-RAY
Early diagnosis is the key to preventing and treating illnesses such as broken bones and signs of cancer. By sending a small, carefully controlled amount of radiation through a certain part of your body, X-rays capture important images of the inside of your body. These images provide your physician with the necessary information to make a diagnosis, as well as help determine the appropriate treatment.
Digital Fluoroscopy uses X-rays to capture images of an organ while it is moving and functioning, such as the movement of food through the intestinal tract. Digital Fluoroscopy is most commonly used to analyze the digestive tract or to aid in catheterization. Typically, a contrast medium such as barium is used to help aid the visualization.
CT-SCAN
Also known as CAT (Computed Axial Tomography), the CT scan is a special type of X-ray that produces 2 and/or 3 dimensional images of the body. Invented in 1972, it took 30 seconds to take 1 (slice) image, and provided very crude images.
CT technology has progressed over the years. At Imaging 4 U, our 64-Slice, Spiral CT scanner has the ability to do multiple slices simultaneously in less than half a second. Typical entire body CT is performed in about 15 seconds.
CT scanning allows your physician to see inside your body without the need to operate because it creates a high resolution, 3-D image of the body. The images produced are similar to what a surgeon would see when performing an operation. Because CT images are more detailed than the images produced by conventional X-Rays, there is greater accuracy and an ability to detect small abnormalities that might have otherwise gone undetected. It is fast, effective and the risks are low.
CT is also important in the detection and diagnosis of:
- Lung Cancer
- Enlarged Lymph Nodes
- Pancreatic Disease
- Back Problems
- Pulmonary Blood Clots
- Coronary & Peripheral Vascular Disease
- Appendicitis
- Colon Cancer via Virtual Colonoscopy
DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY
Mammography is a specific type of imaging that uses a low-dose x-ray system for examination of the breasts. The images of the breasts can be viewed on film at a view box or as soft copy on a digital mammography work station.
Unlike traditional mammography, which uses film, digital mammography uses digital images. There are many advantages to this. Because the image is viewed on a higher resolution monitor, it can be manipulated like a digital camera image. So our radiologists can zoom in on the image, magnify it, as well as optimize different parts of the breast tissue. Our software also allows them to view the entire breast on one image, which means there are fewer call backs.
There are other advantages to using digital mammography, including:
- Better cancer detection in dense breasts.
- Better visibility at the skin line.
- Greater image flexibility.
- Improved patient comfort due to less compression in most cases.
- Shorter exam times.
- Less Anxiety.
- Faster results.
- Best for implants and dense or fibrocystic breasts.
- Better for smaller breasts.
- Less radiation.
- Fewer negative biopsy recommendations.
- No lost films.
